Arpy Brown returns with fresh EP for Toy Tonics
Arpy Brown is an alias of Robin Braum, formerly one half of Athlete Whippet, and he continues to establish his new project with the four track Fantasy EP, which is out now on Toy Tonics.
Arpy Brown transitioned into a solo venture in late 2024 and quickly gained recognition with features on Tartelet Records' latest compilation and a tour that included debut performances in Southeast Asia following releases on the likes of Aus Music, Rhythm Section and Kitsuné Musique.
His work has seen support from BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music, Mixmag, DJ Mag and Resident Advisor, with remixes from artists like Ross from Friends, Baltra and Max Graef.
Says Arpy Brown, who is a key player at !K7 and works on the legendary DJ-Kicks series, “This record is a bit of a full circle moment for me. I’ve played with blending club music with more organic, performed elements for a while now, but this EP actually brings me back to my roots as a singer in a band in my teenage years. Every song on here is pretty much composed in a traditional song writer fashion with my vocal hook right at the front. I haven’t done that in a while but recently got really inspired by that sort of approach again.”
This latest outing marks a significant evolution in the producer's journey as he takes full creative control by performing his own vocals, keys, and guitars across all tracks.
The EP features the high-energy house track 'Attention,' the indie-leaning 'Jack' and the emotive 'Fantasy' which all blend of groove, soul and plenty of musical self-expression.
