Hey Pisapia, great to meet you! How was 2024 for you now you look back, what did you achieve that you are most proud of?
Hi, thanks for asking. It was my best year as an artist, where I achieved a lot of big gigs and some tracks that also reached millions of listeners. But to be honest I’m most proud of just everything that happened and the progress I made. I’m trying to improve myself step by step and not put limits on myself.
Tell us about your upbringing and what steered you to electronic music and specifically the techno side of the spectrum?
I was a big fan of Carl Cox. I approached techno music thanks to him. I’m going to change a lot with my music next year. I’m going to bring an orchestra sound into some of my tracks. You will see soon!!!
What do you think of the Italian music scene at the moment? Has it changed much and if so for better or worse?
It’s changed a lot …for me every year it is better as a lot of new parties are coming and artists too. It’s growing but we can do more for sure. We have a lot of good venues and promoters and really historical ones that can compete with the rest of the world as well. The Italian scene shall always be vibrant and full of energy.
What artists inspire you? Who do you look up to?
As I said Carl Cox in the past, but right now I try to catch everything I like from everyone and put my touch to it. I always also have a look at the newcomers. As I said I don’t like to put any type of limits on my music.
Can you tell us about your creative process? How do you approach your production when you are looking to start something new?
I like to keep it really simple :
Smoke a joint, turn on the computer and start the magic. Some days are better than others. Maybe in a few days I can do a lot of tracks and in some weeks none. Also touring a lot is not helping me, but I’m doing my best to keep up my workflow in the studio.
Tell us about your studio set up. What gear do you use most prominently to get your defining sound?
Nothing exceptional to be honest. Ableton, synths and modulars. I try to work more on lots of sounds and always try to create something new.
You’ve recently toured in the US, what cities did you play and how was that? Were there any standout moments?
Yes I loved the tour! I played in LA, Las Vegas, New York and Miami. It was really crazy and a lot of fun. I can’t wait to go again in March & April. The scene there is really growing and every time I go it is better than the others. I can’t wait to go to play in the other states over there.
What’s next for Pisapia in 2025? Any exciting projects or upcoming releases we should look out for?
We are working on a world tour that is really complex. This year I will be in touch again with all the continents and I will have some big big shows that are already confirmed, I just can’t really mention yet. I can’t tell you more about the music but I will let you imagine something in my next reply.
Lastly, what was the last record you heard that made you go wow?
Pisapia - Hybrid Boom v 2:0
The first version was the track that changed my career for me and as I said I've tried to insert all these orchestra sounds and it’s really emotional in the drops. I can’t wait to share it with you and I really think it was a ‘wow’ moment for me.
