After a year away from releasing, London-based producer Bailey Ibbs resurfaces with Notice The Silence, a four-track EP that signals a notable shift in both mood and methodology. Out Friday 19th December via his own Night Service imprint, the project finds Ibbs stepping back from the high-impact, club-first pressure he’s long been associated with, opting instead for something slower-burning, more vulnerable and emotionally charged.
Best known as a driving force in the new wave of contemporary techno, Ibbs has built a reputation on releases that blur the lines between techno, breaks and rave DNA. Since his 2022 debut Volta EP, which quickly caught the attention of tastemakers such as DVS1, Ben Klock and Marrøn, he’s appeared on respected platforms including Token, HATE, SLAM and KiNK, all while steadily shaping Night Service into a distinct label and curatorial outlet.
Notice The Silence marks a conscious turning point. Rather than chasing immediacy or peak-time functionality, the EP prioritises atmosphere and emotional tension, allowing space, subtlety and restraint to take centre stage. It’s a body of work defined by pause as much as propulsion, one that reflects an artist willing to sit with uncertainty and let feeling guide the process.
“This was about giving myself permission to slow things down,” Ibbs explains. “Letting the tension breathe and allowing emotion to dictate where the tracks went. It feels closer to where I actually am creatively right now.”
The release lands at a significant moment in Ibbs’ trajectory. In 2024, he was announced as a resident at Berlin institution Tresor, further solidifying his standing within the global techno ecosystem. Alongside this, his ongoing Rinse FM residency has offered a platform for longer, more narrative-driven selections, while appearances at forward-facing spaces like SECTION HQ continue to highlight his range beyond the dancefloor.
As Night Service evolves in parallel, balancing club functionality with deeper artistic intent, Notice The Silence stands as Bailey Ibbs’ most considered statement to date: a record that proves impact doesn’t always come from volume, but from knowing when to pull back.
