Blond:ish Interview

Blond:ish is the Montreal-born DJ and producer that has been carving her own unique path in the electronic music world. She not only blends a wide array of house sounds into high energy sets full of good vibrations, but she also has a deep commitment to elevating the human experience. She recently played in Dubai at the FIVE LUXE Hotel for Playa Pacha and lit up the party just ahead of a milestone residency at Pacha Ibiza this Summer where she will become the female headline resident DJ .

When asked about Dubai and what it’s like to perform there, Blond:ish shared her admiration for the city's rapid evolution in embracing electronic music. “It’s probably like the fastest-evolving city in terms of their open-mindedness on electronic music,” she said, reflecting on the city’s shift from when she first played there six years ago. “Every time I come back, it’s like they’ve evolved. You can see it visually. It’s really nice to see how fast this culture evolves.” Her excitement for the city’s growth mirrors her own journey, where transformation is a constant theme.

Every Wednesday from May 21 to July 30 this Summer, she plays as the first female resident at Pacha Ibiza with her Abracadabra night. She admits she didn’t initially grasp the significance of it once it was locked in. “I never really thought about it until the article came out and I started getting tons of emotional messages,” she says, humbled by the support. “I’m just happy that people want to listen to my music.”

While the attention is new, her goals have always been deeper than stardom. “Before I started meditating, I thought the biggest thing was just playing to 10,000 people. But now, I want my music to have more purpose. I want to help people live their best lives, and if I can do that in Ibiza, the centre of the world for electronic music in the Summer, that would be amazing.”

Reflecting on time spent in Ibiza since she first went when she was 17, Blond:ish reveals a personal connection to the island that has shaped her career. “I was at every after-party, every villa,” she says with a laugh. “Back then, it was mostly male DJs at the top, making out at villa parties. Now, it feels like a real full-circle moment for me.”

The challenge of being a resident DJ at Pacha is something Blond:ish embraces, knowing that the pressure to sell out shows every week will push her outside of her comfort zone. “It’s a challenge, and that’s when life starts to change. I’ve been assembling an amazing team, and together, we’re gonna make it work,” she shares.

Musically, she plans to bring a diverse and international sound to her residency, one that reflects her eclectic style. “I’m pretty diverse with what kind of music I like. I’m bringing my favourites,”. But she emphasises that her style isn’t about a specific genre. “Everyone’s different, and it might confuse some people, but when people understand that my music is about energy—not a certain genre—they’ll get the message.”

Her energy is something Blond:ish describes as a deep drive to help people succeed. “I want humans to succeed at life. That energy comes through my music,” she says. Her desire to inspire others is clear, especially when considering the way society often limits people’s potential. “We grew up in a system where everyone told us no, that money in a bank only gets you point-one percent interest. I want to give people a chance.”

Part of this ethos extends to her upcoming residency with the concept of Abracadabra, a night she created with her wife. The idea came from their shared vision for a more intentional party experience, one that focuses on sustainability, feminine energy, and creating something fresh. “We wanted to shift things—to create parties from 6 PM to midnight, with a focus on details,” she explains. “I want to bring something new to Ibiza, something that feels fresh, because by August, everyone’s tired of the same old.”

Finally, her debut album Never Walk Alone encapsulates her intention to use music as a tool for transformation. “I wanted to create something to help people live their best lives,” she says, emphasising the thought and care that went into the album’s creation. “When I go to the studio, it’s not about making a banger. It’s about crafting music with intention, with purpose.”

As she embarks on this exciting new chapter at Pacha Ibiza, Blond:ish is more focused than ever on the power of music to inspire, uplift, and connect. Through her performances, her album, and her residency, she’s on a mission to make the world a better place, one track at a time.
