DJ Satélite and DJ Gálio unveil Raízes – A Pan-African, Cross-Continental afro house masterpiece

The final installment of their acclaimed trilogy drops April 24, featuring 28 tracks and collaborators from Africa, Europe, and South America

Pioneering Angolan producers DJ Satélite and DJ Gálio announce the release of their long-awaited collaborative album Raízes on April 24, available on all digital platforms. The release will be celebrated with a live launch event at Duro de Matar in Lisbon, including DJ sets and surprise performances. Entry is free, subject to venue capacity.

Raízes (Portuguese for "roots") is more than an album — it’s a bold cultural statement. With 28 tracks and an impressive lineup of artists from across three continents, the project represents a rich tapestry of global Afro-electronic sound. Featured collaborators include:

Afro Wav (Zimbabwe)

Boddhi Satva (Central African Republic)

Drunky Daniels & Jessica Gaspar (Brazil)

Kaysha (France/Congo)

Riwo (Nigeria)

Sokhana & Lilly Randy (South Africa)

Plus a strong representation from Angola and the PALOP countries with Alex Kasion, Edlasio Alves, Melvi, Kelly Gomez, Peter Rodrigues, Danny Boy, and Leriggo

The album concludes a trilogy that began with Horizonte and Caminho, chronicling a journey of sonic exploration rooted in African identity, modern electronic production, and cross-cultural collaboration.

We've arrived at the sound that defines us. It’s like saying: we’ve been here for ten years,” explain Satélite and Gálio. “This album reflects maturity, clarity, and a deep connection to our roots — both personal and musical.

A Celebration of Cultural Identity Through Sound

Raízes fuses traditional rhythms, batucada energy, and contemporary Afro House textures into a project that feels both intimate and globally resonant. It showcases Afro House not just as a genre, but as a vehicle for identity and connection.

Our batucada has a different energy. It brings us peace. And you can feel that in kuduro, afro house, even semba,” says DJ Satélite, widely recognized as a pioneer of the modern Kuduro movement.

About the Artists

DJ Satélite, a central figure in the evolution of Angolan electronic music, was behind iconic productions like Estado Maior do Ku-Duro (Lambas, 2006) and Batida Única (Bruno M, 2007). With releases on labels such as Seres Produções and collaborations with Boddhi Satva, Branko, and Cee ElAssaad, his work is regularly played by global icons including Black Coffee.

DJ Gálio, originally from Cabinda, began his career in rap before transitioning into Kuduro and Afro House. His 2022 album Quibuala cemented his international presence, with performances at Enchufada and releases on Offering Records and Seres Produções.

Together, they are shaping a new sonic era rooted in Angola and radiating across the world.
