FJAAK reinforce their analog identity with new four-track release ‘Fjaak 015’
Berlin duo FJAAK return to their self-titled imprint with ‘FJAAK 015’, a four-track EP capturing the raw, hardware-driven techno synonymous with their production ethos. Following the release of the lead single ‘Serotonin’, the complete project offers a comprehensive look at the duo’s refined approach to modern dancefloor functionality.
Felix Wagner and Aaron Röbig have built a distinct position within electronic music through an uncompromising focus on physical sound, analog workflows, and the heritage of Berlin warehouse culture. Across the release, the pair examine different facets of their rhythmic language through a tightly controlled palette of elements. The opening cut, ‘Serotonin’, functions as a stripped-back, groove-focused workout balancing punchy drum sequencing with heavy low-end pressure. It moves seamlessly into ‘Threshold’, a hypnotic arrangement defined by skipped rhythms, filtered synth stabs, and expansive reverberated spatial depth. On the flip side, ‘Bio Data’ offers a deeper exploration into industrial textures, pairing coarse machine rhythms with an unexpected, atmospheric breakdown, before ‘Wax Pack’ concludes the record as a continuous dancefloor tool built around rolling basslines and sequenced analog movement.
