Grayson Repp

Grayson Repp is back, and he’s ready to move us with Heart and Soul, his first release after a three-year hiatus. A track that blends the best of progressive house with afro-inspired elements, it’s a reflection of the journey that’s defined his sound, and his life. Known for his emotionally charged, euphoric sets that have resonated with crowds from underground clubs in Berlin to the massive stages of the FIFA World Cup, Grayson is no stranger to pushing boundaries and creating experiences that transcend music.

With over 2 million fans live, 1.5 billion broadcast listeners, and backing from industry heavyweights like Tiësto and The Chainsmokers, Grayson has firmly established himself as a force in global electronic music. But it’s his deep connection to both his craft and his roots that really sets him apart. As the official lead DJ for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the USA, Mexico, and Canada, he’s poised to take his career, and the energy of the game, to a whole new level.

We sat down with Grayson to talk about his new single, his evolution as an artist, and his upcoming projects, including a special Vancouver remix for the 2026 World Cup.

Hey Grayson! How are you doing today? Wanted to talk about your latest single, 'Heart and Soul', that blends progressive house with afro-inspired elements. What inspired this track, and how does it reflect your current artistic vision?

I’m very well, thank you! ‘Heart and Sou’ reflects my journey over the past few years. It shows a deep look into my soul as I put everything into my music. It's a fresh start for releasing music after a three-year break. My goal has always been to move the listener with ups and downs. Like life itself!

You've described your sets as emotionally charged and euphoric. What’s your process for building that atmosphere, whether it's in a packed club or a FIFA stadium? How do they compare?

In relation to the music I make, I try to create a story within my DJ sets. The songs I've curated provoke strong emotions. I want the attendees' experience to overwhelm their senses, both visually and sonically. The process always begins with songs that move me first. I’ll choose songs based on the venue. I love how each one has a unique vibe. It keeps me learning and growing. For example, my set in a basement club in Berlin would be completely different from DJ’ing a FIFA World Cup Final.

Berlin is a global hotspot for electronic music. How has living there shaped your sound or approach to production and performance?

I love Berlin and I’m so grateful for the lessons the music scene has taught me here. Coming from a very different music culture, I felt reborn in a way after moving to Germany. The music culture runs deep and it’s pure. Berlin is a hub for subcultures and all forms of art. My horizons have expanded beyond my dreams. This has changed how I DJ, produce, and even how I live. It's all for the genuine connection, and music is that driver in Berlin. There are so many talented DJs here, and I've soaked up as many attributes as I can from them.

You've received support from industry heavyweights like Tiësto and The Chainsmokers. How has their backing influenced your career trajectory and opportunities?

I’ll be honest, that was a long time ago and I neglected my responsibilities afterward; I had no music to follow up! I learned a lesson, and I won’t repeat that mistake. It looks great on a CV, but I only feel good after my last DJ set or release. I'll be in their league again soon—I know I will be.

You've performed for over 2 million fans live and reached 1.5 billion more via broadcast. What’s it like DJing in such high-pressure, high-energy environments like the FIFA World Cup?

I love high-pressure situations. They help you grow and see what you can do. The FIFA World Cup gave me the confidence that anything is possible if you’re willing to do the work to get there. Sharing moments with millions feels magical. It's like living in a dream where everyone shares the same emotions. Full, raw, connectedness. That’s why I do what I do, for the moments shared together.

As the official lead DJ for the FIFA World Cup 2026 across the USA, Mexico, and Canada, can you give us a glimpse into what you’re planning musically for this next global stage?

For sure! That is my home and where my family is. I have a strong bond with the three nations: I was born in Canada, went to university in the USA, and got married in Mexico. They all feel like home to me in different ways. There’s no doubt from an entertainment and sporting standpoint that this area of the world leads the way. Expect massive productions, big artists, and, of course, lots of drama on the pitch. Musically, I’ll be showcasing the best of English and Spanish music—my excitement is through the roof!

Being selected to produce the Vancouver remix of the FIFA World Cup 2026 theme is a significant honor. Can you share how this opportunity came about and what it means to you personally and professionally?

It is an incredible honour and I’m beyond grateful. Getting to represent your hometown is a dream come true. A year ago, I was asked to share my thoughts on Vancouver's music scene. They wanted to know about the sights and sounds of our city. I also had to describe my musical vision if I got selected. The committee members ended up picking me and I got straight to work! The best moment for me was when my grandmother called. She saw me on the news and said I made her proud. Professionally, It expanded my network, resulting in remarkable new collaborators.

You collaborated with artists from the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations for the Vancouver remix. How did these collaborations influence the creative process and the final sound of the remix?

This was an incredible collaboration on so many levels. I was lucky to learn about the nations that have lived on this land for thousands of years. Their instruments have also been used for generations and still look the same. They brought the remix to life. They explained the drum’s meaning, comparing it to a living thing—a heartbeat. This changed how I make music. A lesson I don’t think I would have come to without them! Their remix uses drums, shakers, and chanting. This shows life in Vancouver over the centuries. It’s truly unique.

With over 3 million Spotify streams and a series of releases planned for 2025, how do you envision your sound evolving for the rest of the year?

I see my sound, like myself, evolving and improving each day. I try to get 1% better each day at my craft and as a person. You’ll hear different musical layers from me. I enjoy electronic, pop, and urban sounds. It’s whatever moves me at the moment. They all come together with high energy and a storytelling voice.

Beyond your FIFA engagements, what are your aspirations as an artist? Are there any upcoming collaborations, club residencies, or perhaps a debut album on the horizon?

Headline Coachella, EDC, and Tomorrowland. Collaborate with new people, explore diverse views, and gain recognition as a positive force in global music. If I work hard, the rest will follow. We’ll chat again when I have a residency in Ibiza!
