Ministry of Sound to complete major renovation ahead of 35th anniversary
London nightclub Ministry of Sound will undertake a significant renovation of its main room, The Box, in January 2026, ahead of the venue’s 35th anniversary year.
The refurbishment will include a new sound system, redesigned dancefloor and DJ booth, and a new overhead lighting installation. The venue is scheduled to reopen at the end of January following completion of the works.
As part of the renovation, Ministry of Sound will replace its long-running Martin Audio system with a custom four-point KV2 Audio sound system, comprising SL412 tops and a combination of VHD2.21 and VHD2.16 subwoofers. The installation has been developed in collaboration with audio specialists Patchwork London.
The DJ booth will also be repositioned and rebuilt as a modular structure, allowing for different performance formats, including 360-degree setups. An elevated backstage area will surround the new booth, and the club’s capacity is expected to increase by approximately 200 people.
Visual changes to The Box include a newly installed overhead lighting structure measuring 9 square metres, alongside updated video and lighting design by production studio Lucid Creates. The installation incorporates LED bar technology, integrated screens and industrial design elements intended to retain the character of the space.
Ministry of Sound will reopen The Box with two events at the end of January. On Friday 30 January, the programme will feature &friends, Moeaike and Joezi. Saturday 31 January will include a back-to-back set from Pete Tong and Kölsch, alongside Lauren Lo Sung and Jansons.
The renovation forms part of a wider programme marking 35 years of Ministry of Sound, which will include a series of events throughout 2026 featuring artists such as Todd Terje, Ron Trent, Joe Claussell, Eats Everything, Tony Humphries, Fiorella, Kele Le Roc and Konstantin Sibold.
Founded in 1991, Ministry of Sound is one of London’s longest-running electronic music venues and has played a significant role in the development of club culture in the UK and internationally.
