Recardo Patrick on the Rise of AMØK Mallorca

Recardo Patrick has had a truly diverse and genre-defying journey through the world of entertainment. From the heights of pop stardom in the 1970s as the frontman of Sweet Sensation and topping UK charts with 'Sad Sweet Dreamer' to curating some of Europe’s most forward-thinking nightclubs, his story is one of reinvention, resilience and relentless creativity.

Right now, Recardo is spearheading a new chapter in Balearic club culture with AMØK Club Mallorca, a new venue that balances global reach with local roots and plenty of nocturnal spectacle.

“I’ve been performing in Ibiza since my childhood,” he says, “when I first went there to perform with George Michael Freddie Mercury Spandau Ballet and others at Ku, which is now [UNVRS].” That early exposure to the island’s legendary nightlife planted the seeds for what would become a lifelong relationship with music and hospitality. “Over the course of my career, I made many, many contacts, which eventually led me to Oscar Ruiz del Rio, the ex-CEO of the Pacha Group. When he left the group, we formed a new team and that became AMØK.”

Patrick’s journey between those two points is anything but ordinary. He has operated 18 restaurants across the UK, launched successful hospitality ventures, is a passionate advocate and TEDx speaker and much more. But it’s his knack for blending showmanship with strategic vision that fuels his approach to entertainment.

“I started at the top of the mountain concerts in the Austrian Alps in Ischgl, and I brought artists such as Sir Elton John Simply Red, Andrea Bocelli, Tina Turner, and many other artists so I have a vast amount of experience not only as an entertainer and organiser, but as a visionary and creative and networker, which is important to the success collectively with AMOK.”

Now in its second season, AMØK Club Mallorca is already redefining nightlife on the island. Situated just three kilometres from Palma Airport, it merges world-class production with a distinct identity that sets it apart from Ibiza’s high-octane scene. The club’s programming is refreshingly broad, welcoming the likes of Ben Klock, Archie Hamilton, Patrice Bäumel, Alle Farben and James Hype, while also giving space to Afro-house collectives, local promoters and immersive sunset rituals.

“We’re doing things outside the box,” says Recardo. “We're putting on extraordinary nights, which are aimed at entertainment glamour, great DJs large and small, and creating an entertainment space so that people are thoroughly entertained inside and outside.”

That inclusivity extends beyond genre to audience. “We are also very price conscious as to not create a super high-end VIP experience as we want everybody to enjoy themselves without the fear of money issues.”

This summer, AMØK introduced Masaka Africana, a Thursday night celebration of Afro-house and performance art that quickly caught fire. “We first saw Masaka in Ibiza,” says Patrick. “Alberto Dubois, who is the operations director, agreed to bring the party to Mallorca. Afro house is glamorous, and we wanted to have a night like this that was already established in Ibiza, and build it gradually in Mallorca. The energy in the party is spectacular! The costumes, the dancers, the shows are electrifying and really moves people with their African style of dance and music. It really is something spectacular and so is the music from the DJs! This is something we want to grow and grow and grow.”

Masaka features over 11 performers, a rotating cast of Afro and deep house DJs, a multicultural boho market and global street food, and it’s growing every week. The same could be said for TRIBU, AMØK’s Sunday sunset series on its expansive open-air terrace - one of the largest outdoor clubbing spaces in the Balearics. “People like to dance outside and feel free open-air with the sun coming down, and see each other in a daylight experience. Tribu has grown massively in just three weeks for this very reason.”

While Ibiza still casts a long shadow over Mediterranean nightlife, Recardo believes Mallorca is forging a distinct path and one less about competition and more about identity. “Mallorca is very unique in its way of not being oversupplied to the tourists or the locals, it is more a lifestyle experience but it has some great electronic parties, and great clubbing experiences and festivals. Mallorca is not looking to compete, but create its own stamp and identity with its music offerings and clubs.”

What also makes a difference is AMØK’s commitment to the local creative community. From day one, Recardo and his team have prioritised partnerships with local artists, stage designers and promoters. “This has been the cornerstone of our business and our ideology, as we are very conscious of supporting local businesses, artists and talent in stage design right through to dancers and lighting companies."

Proof that it's working is the fact that AMOK is full every single weekend through winter because of a big following from the locals, "We have such a strong local following with our reggaeton nights with Mentiroso, and Crush, which is a German themed techno night, has been a huge success inside and out, all because of local promoters and working with people in the area who approached us because they loved the venue.”

Looking ahead, the vision for AMØK is expansive. “We are hoping to build the brand and make AMOK the number one destination for diverse club nights, and DJs from all genres, and also to do live concerts and spectacular events with the outdoor space we have which is incredible, and we are blessed to have. In the future we will be looking to do huge events outside and also our own festival and create a different brand associated with the venue with the outdoor space. We would like to be a 22 hour operation from the pool experience to nightclub. Being so close to the airport means there are endless possibilities to create day and night content."

And while AMØK is now recognised as Mallorca’s premier clubbing destination, it’s only the beginning of Recardo Patrick’s latest chapter. With a lifetime of experience, he continues to shape nightlife and make unique experiences an art form. This summer has offered a bold mix of DJ talent from the sharp end of house and techno with headliners; Patrice Bäumel, Lehar B2b Denis Horvart, Alle Farben, Archie Hamilton, Melanie Ribbe, Ben Klock, James Hype and Ilario Alicante all passing through the club.

As well as that is the TRIBU SUNSET PARTY every Sunday on the terrace, an open‑air ritual of house and electronic chill-out as the sun dips over the Mallorcan hills with Latin infused tech later into the night, every style of house and techno can be sampled 7 days a week at AMØK.
