Sames shares hotly anticipated new EP Phonesex
The Berlin-based newcomer oozes with cool on this five-track release
Experimental electronic music artist Sames unveiled his hotly anticipated new EP Phonesex, out 29th September.
Phonesex is packed with emotionally resonant yet dance-floor ready electronic music, with Sames’ enigmatic and distorted vocals adding an intimate feel throughout. EP opener and lead single ‘All I Know’ is a blissed-out groove built around intricate percussion and inventive synth pads, while the smooth-as-butter ‘Why You Trippin’’ conjures up mellow house tones with stream-of-consciousness vocals and delicate keys. Up next is title track ‘Phonesex’, the upbeat centrepiece of the release, a reverb-drenched instrumental built around a typically sensual and rhythmic vocal hook from Sames.
‘Phone Sex’ also comes accompanied by an official music video, an atmospheric visual soaked in neon lighting as the Berliner attempts to communicate with a love interest through a chaotic nighttime scene.
‘Control’ - and its alternate ‘Afterhours Mix’ - close out the EP, leaving an indelible mark with its cat-and-mouse lyrics and minimalist grooves. “I’m the one that never wanna let you go / you the one that always wanna keep control / I’m the one that always wanna take you home”, goes the seductive lead vocal line, burning itself into the memory with its incessantly catchy hook.
Sames aims to challenge the current state of contemporary electronic music by reinterpreting it at its core. The Berlin-based newcomer is independently establishing a name for himself by continuously releasing dance-floor ready tracks infused with original vocals and Berlin-inspired soundscapes. Feeling equally confident in the studio as behind the decks, Sames achieves to create blissful moments across a variety of settings. With performances across Europe and support from major artists around the globe, Sames is one to watch on the electronic music scene.
Phonesex is a perfect primer for the blissful, enigmatic electronic music of Sames, confirming this young artist as a major new talent.
