Secret Raves by Comme Dans Les Films: Cinema, Sound and Queer Freedom in Paris

Some parties revolve around music. Others end up becoming movements. The Secret Raves, created by the Paris-based label COMME DANS LES FILMS and its founder Parfait, clearly belong to the second category. Free of charge, RSVP-only, and announced through Telegram, these gatherings have quickly turned into one of the most radical experiments in Europe’s electronic underground.

Every three months, an abandoned warehouse or hidden corner of Paris is transformed into a cinematic rave. It is not just a party: it is a set. A place where sound, light and bodies collide to create a total filmic experience. Cameras are always rolling, and the footage is uploaded to YouTube, turning each night into both memory and archive.

The first edition arrived with a sharp and unapologetic statement. To celebrate the release of the compilation DOOM GENERATION, Parfait recreated an iconic Gregg Araki scene inside a warehouse in the 18th arrondissement. Nine cameras captured the raw intensity as she delivered a two-hour live set: an audiovisual performance that blurred the lines between club, cinema and concert.

For the second edition, Parfait returned with an explosive B2B alongside Lola Cerise. The atmosphere was intimate yet electric, proving that these raves are not about spectacle but about pure energy: queer, raw and unfiltered.

What makes the Secret Raves truly unique is this duality. Ephemeral in the moment, yet eternal in their documentation. They create a space of freedom where music becomes a catalyst for collective release, while also building a visual archive of how queer nightlife looks and feels in Paris today.

“COMME DANS LES FILMS is not just a label, it is a philosophy of care, collaboration and storytelling,” Parfait explains. “The Secret Raves are its beating heart: the place where all those ideas materialize under strobe lights and basslines.”

For those who could not be there, the live streams remain online. For those who were, the memory is still alive. Either way, the Secret Raves are an invitation to step into a world where dancefloor and cinema merge into one.
