The rise of Noise Mafia: the new face of latin american electronic music

Just a few months ago, Noise Mafia was a name known primarily within the inner circles of electronic music. Today, his career has taken off impressively, and it seems the future holds only more success for this talented Colombian producer. But what has changed in his life or approach that has triggered such a rapid rise? More importantly, how has he managed to integrate his Latin roots with the new trends in global techno? Let’s dive into his story.

Noise Mafia is grounded. For him, there’s no magic formula that guarantees overnight success. What really matters is constant work, dedication, and knowing how to wait for the right moment.

"It could take me a year or ten," he tells us, referring to the fact that not all artists reach fame at the same speed.

The key, according to him, is staying focused and not letting the distractions of nightlife affect his career. This advice, coming from someone who has been immersed in the scene for a while, resonates strongly.

Though Noise Mafia’s success didn’t happen overnight, there was one particular moment that marked a turning point in his career: when Sara Landry played his remix of "Paper Planes" in a Boiler Room set. For him, this wasn’t just a "click" in his career; it was one of the major highlights of Landry’s set and a public recognition of his talent. This put his music in the spotlight and allowed him to reach a much wider audience.

Noise Mafia takes pride in representing Colombia and the Latin community in the global electronic music industry, though he has always tried not to compare himself with other artists.

“Beyond opening doors for Latinx artists, what I want is to make those doors open even wider. I’m sure several artists before me have already opened them, and as I’ve said before, the rest of us have to be grateful, and the challenge is to keep our leading role relevant.”

This focus on personal growth rather than external comparisons has allowed him to stay true to himself while continuing to advance in his career.

As for his music, integrating elements of his Colombian and Latin American culture has been an exciting challenge. It’s something he considers not only necessary but a way to pay homage to his roots. Noise Mafia is committed to showcasing the talent of his region without feeling pressured by an implicit "responsibility" just because he’s Latino. Instead, his goal is more personal: to create music that, when heard, people can feel where it comes from.

THE ELECTRONIC SCENE IN BOGOTÁ: A SOURCE OF INSPIRATION AND GROWTH

The local scene in Bogotá has played a fundamental role in the development of his identity as an artist. The city, though small compared to electronic music giants like Berlin or London, has one of the most vibrant and diverse scenes in Latin America. Noise Mafia draws from this diversity, seeing the richness of his environment as a constant challenge to create something new and fresh.

"We have one of the richest scenes in the region," he assures us.

However, Noise Mafia isn’t referring to the number of parties or events, but to the quality and variety of music being produced and consumed in Bogotá. This environment has shaped him as an artist and continues to influence his productions, something that is clearly evident in his tracks.

Describing Noise Mafia’s sound is difficult, mainly because he prefers not to label his music. He describes it as an evolving process, where he’s always looking to adapt sounds that, at first glance, might not seem compatible, and turning them into something his own. This mix of fast, exciting, and captivating rhythms is what gives his music that particular atmosphere that sets him apart from other projects in the scene.

Moreover, Noise Mafia is a music lover. His creative process doesn’t necessarily start with a melody or rhythm, but with the simple inspiration that can come from anywhere: daily life, art, a conversation.

"I try to creatively nourish myself from any kind of art."

As for what’s coming next, Noise Mafia has several releases on the way, including one he’s especially proud of: one of his tracks will soon be released on Indira Paganotto’s label, Artcore Records. This is a huge step for him and a confirmation that he’s on the right path, working with labels he never imagined reaching.

But his vision doesn’t stop at music. Noise Mafia is also a very visual person and dreams of expanding his art into other disciplines. One of his biggest dreams is to bring his music to the cinema, creating a complete audiovisual experience in his sets.

"It would be a dream to imprint my sounds on a film," he confesses.

Finally, when asked about his long-term vision, Noise Mafia remains calm. He doesn’t like to create unnecessary pressure regarding stages or numbers. What matters most to him is his personal project and the musical growth it will bring. He trusts that by focusing on his artistic evolution, everything else will fall into place.

Noise Mafia is an artist in constant evolution, and if his recent trajectory is any indication of what’s to come, we can expect great things from him. With a unique blend of Latin and global influences and a clear vision of his art, he is destined to leave a significant mark on the global electronic scene.
