Armada Music drops new documentary on the resurgence of hard house

Armada Music has unveiled The Comeback of Hard House, a 10-minute documentary exploring the revival of the hard house genre.

Originally emerging in the 1990s, hard house is experiencing a huge resurgence with artists like Peggy Gou, KI/KI and KETTAMA all incorporating its elements into their own take on electronic music. Though once confined to very specific clubs and events, it is now heard all across the spectrum and played by a diverse array of DJs not usually associated with the sound.

The documentary features interviews with genre-pioneers such as Club Caviar, Klubbheads and B.O.B. Ltd as well as current producers who are revitalising the hard house sound. It highlights how the COVID-19 pandemic contributed to the genre's resurgence as audiences sought energetic and nostalgic music during lockdowns.

To celebrate the release, Armada Music hosted a special event at its Amsterdam headquarters on 5 June with a preview screening of the documentary followed by performances from artists including Kara-okay, Kyle Starkey, Club Caviar and Eva Vrijdag.

The Comeback of Hard House is out now on Armada Music TV via YouTube.
