BRUX ventures into transcendent ambient territory with new album ‘Halcyon Phase’

Australian-born, New York-based producer and composer BRUX expands her sonic palette with the release of Halcyon Phase. Out now via Sources, this seven-track record marks a shift toward ambient and cinematic territories, moving away from dancefloor-driven rhythms to embrace a deeply personal and spiritual narrative.

Originally sketched during a period of isolation in Australia’s Blue Mountains, the album acts as an audio diary capturing the artist's stillness and transformation. Mixed and mastered by Damian Taylor (known for his work with Björk and The Prodigy), Halcyon Phase blends whirring synth textures, field recordings, and BRUX’s own vocals, striking a masterclass balance between technical restraint and emotional depth.

"I'd always made music for shared physical spaces, but during that time in the Blue Mountains there were no clubs, no shows – only freedom to create." BRUX shares. "These tracks started as little sketches during a really still, reflective period of my life and I kept coming back to them over the years as everything else changed around me."

Influenced by pioneers like Brian Eno and Ryuichi Sakamoto, this body of work represents a natural evolution for BRUX, who recently supported Fred Again.. throughout his New York residency, proving her innovative approach transcends genre boundaries.

Halcyon Phase is now available on all digital platforms, with a limited vinyl pressing to follow.
